Indicator Fast Start Driver Assessment
Your Instructor wants you to get off to a fast start with your driver training. He or she will assess your driving competences during your initial 2 hour assessment lesson that is booked. The choice of assessment aid will be governed by whether you have had any previous driving experience and how recent this was compared to the lesson date.
Novice drivers are those with little or no previous experience. For example this would be less than 10 hours practical training driving with a former instructor or accompanying qualified driver.
Intermediate drivers are those that have had 10 or more lessons with a previous instructor in the last 3 months and have mastered the rudimentary early stages of driving with a reasonable degree of confidence.
You should choose, download and print the most appropriate What Car? Indicator assessment for your circumstances and take this to your first lesson with your instructor.

Headway – Tuition Plan
Your Instructor will plan a course of driver training for you in preparation for your practical driving test. For a short while at the end of each lesson your instructor will de-brief you on your progress and will record your achievements with you onto your Headway tuition plan.
Your Headway tuition plan also contains a record of your private practice if you are able to take advantage of this so that both you and your instructor can develop your training programme.
You should download and print the Headway tuition plan and take this to your first lesson with your instructor.

Declaration of Test Readiness
You will be progressing with your driver training improving your competence in all areas. When your instructor believes that you are ready to take your practical driving test he or she will complete the What Car? declaration of your readiness to take the test. This should be handed to the examiner at the start of your practical driving test.
The completion of the declaration is not a guarantee that you will pass your driving test on that occasion but is great evidence to the examiner that you have demonstrated your driving competence to your instructor.
You may find it helpful to have your instructor accompany you on your practical driving test. If you want this service, please ask your instructor in plenty of time so that he can prepare his time to be with you on test.

Show me tell me questions and answers
You will be asked a show me and tell me question by your examiner during your practical test. The question combinations and the full answers are contained on the document.
You should download and print the show me tell me questions and discuss these with your instructor during your training.
