Brand Franchise for just £67 per week inc VAT

Use your current training vehicle -
Providing your car meets the following criteria and our livery standards:

• Is less than 3 years old
• Is dual controlled
• Is well maintained
• Is fully insured
• Has no material damage to the bodywork

Franchise Costs*

* The Franchise Costs are inclusive of VAT at 17.5% applicable from 1 January 2010

^ Insurances are inclusive of IPT and are not subject to VAT.

The Car Fees are charged for 52 weeks annually. The Brand Fees are charged for 51 weeks annually. There is no brand fee levied during the week in which Xmas day falls.

Optional Pupil Introduction Service

As a What Car? 5 Star Instructor you will be able to benefit from our pupil introduction service.

Our aim will be to secure the best value for you on this initial booking by asking Learners or their parents to book a course of lessons using our recommended retail price (RRP) guide. If we cannot secure a block booking we will of course take a booking and payment for a minimum of 2 hours.

As is common in the industry, we ask that you offer a set discount in exchange for the Learner’s commitment in buying the course of lessons:

• £1 discount per hour on a pre-paid course of 5 lessons
• £2 discount per hour on a pre-paid course of 10 lessons
• £3 discount per hour on a pre-paid course of 25 lessons

The pupil introduction fee per Learner inc. VAT  is charged once only at either:

£22.95 for any prepaid lesson booking up to 9 hours in advance or,
£25.95 for any prepaid lesson booking of 10 hours or more in advance.

Once the Learner is allocated it is the Instructors responsibility to retain the Learner and secure additional lessons beyond the initial booking. These repeat bookings will not attract the pupil introduction fee. Should the Learner continue to book through our central booking service then any credit or debit card handling fee will be recharged to you.

All Learners that are recruited directly by the Instructor will not attract the pupil introduction fee.

All of the Instructors’ existing pupils and any lesson pre-payments already paid will not attract the pupil introduction fee.

How will you pay your franchise fees?

The franchise fees will be collected on a weekly basis by charge direct to your bank account. The fees are charged at the end of the week in question. The fees are payable each week of the year.

Any driving lessons prepaid by a learner which you have taken in the week will be credited to you at the hourly rate at the end of the week following.

Initial Franchise Fee and Deposits

There is no Initial franchise fee payable to become a What Car? 5 Star Instructor.

We do however ask that you show your commitment to the What Car? Driving School - Charter for Learners. This requires you to make a refundable deposit of £150.00 to be held by us once you have been accepted as a Franchisee.

Also for those Franchisees that take a training car through What Car? Driving School we require a refundable deposit of £150.00 once you have been accepted as a Franchisee and we will immediately place your vehicle order.

Induction Training Programme

This course will last for 1 day and will be held at a venue local to you within the first 6 weeks of you starting your franchise with What Car? Driving School. The cost of this day is £69.00 incl. VAT.

The aims of this course are:

• To establish with you the values of the What Car? brand and how these transfer to the Driving School.
• To share with you the marketing initiatives and the power of the Whatcar.com/drivingschool site.
• To outline the benefits of exceptional customer service and how this will directly improve your business through What Car? Driving School.
• To introduce you to the bespoke What Car? Driving School assessment and progress tools for your use with your Learners.
• To remind you of key provisions of the franchise agreement and of our respective obligations to each other and mutual obligations to What Car?
• To provide you with your operations manual and show how this will be a source of guidance and reference for the future.
• To answer questions and complete any outstanding validation checks.
